The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has been informed that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the sanctions imposed by UEFA against Romania for the November 2024 match against Kosovo in the UEFA Nations League. The sanctions include a fine of €128,000 and the requirement for the Romanian national team to play their next home match without spectators.

The decision was made after FRF appealed the initial sanctions, but TAS deemed the penalties to be in line with UEFA’s regulations. The case is still pending a separate appeal from Kosovo, but it is likely that the UEFA decision will be upheld.

This development comes as a blow to Romanian football, with many considering the sanctions to be excessive. The FRF has expressed disappointment with the decision and will have to pay the fine and comply with the other sanctions.
