Steaua București began their summer training camp on July 7, 2025, in Bansko, Bulgaria, where head coach Daniel Oprița’s squad will stay until July 18. The camp marks the team’s second pre-season preparation phase of the summer and includes four planned friendly matches against teams mainly from second-tier leagues.

The 20-man traveling squad consists of three goalkeepers—Horia Iancu, Adrian Frănculescu, and Ianis Pletea—and 17 outfield players, including recent signings Mihai Adăscăliței, Ștefan Pacionel, Ianis Doană, Andrei Lascu, Mario Ioniță, Alex Gualda, and Ruben Lopez. The club also extended goalkeeper Frănculescu’s loan from CFR Cluj. Steaua has parted ways with several key players during the summer transfer window, such as Rareș Enceanu, Mihai Kereki, David Matei, and others, signaling a squad overhaul aimed at refreshing the team dynamics.

Steaua’s friendly schedule in Bulgaria is as follows:

– July 9: vs. FC Samtredia (Georgia, Liga 2)
– July 12: vs. FC Hebar Pazardzhik (Bulgaria, Liga 2)
– July 15: vs. Marek Dupnitsa (Bulgaria, Liga 2)
– July 17: Opponent to be confirmed

Prior to departure, Steaua secured a 4-3 victory over CS Afumați in a domestic friendly, highlighting a competitive spirit to carry into the camp. The club also coincided the start of this camp with the inauguration day of their new Ghencea Stadium, adding a symbolic fresh start for the team.

Coach Oprița aims to integrate new players quickly and build team cohesion during this camp, crucial for Steaua’s ambitions in Liga 2 this season. The mix of domestic and international opponents in friendlies offers a balanced test to assess tactical setups and player form ahead of competitive fixtures.

This training camp and the fresh squad additions mark a significant phase in Steaua’s preparation, indicating their intent to challenge strongly in the upcoming Liga 2 campaign.
