Florin Motroc, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience in the Middle East, has been making headlines after a recent stint in Bahrain’s East Riffa Club. Motroc, who has been coaching for over 16 years in the region, has expressed interest in taking on a new challenge in Romania’s Superliga.
Motroc’s impressive resume boasts an array of top-tier clubs in the Middle East, including East Riffa Club, Khaitan SC, Al-Najma SC, and Kazma SC, to name a few. However, his last foray into Romanian football dates back to 2010, when he served as the youth department director at Farul. Prior to that, he had stints at Sportul Studențesc, Modelu, and was an assistant coach at Rapid București and Pandurii.
In an exclusive interview, Motroc revealed his desire to return to Romania: “I would love to coach in Romania, of course. I believe I have an extraordinary wealth of experience, having coached at all levels. I’ve worked with numerous talented players, from 16 to 21 years old. I even had the opportunity to coach the youth team at Rapid, which played in Liga 3. As an assistant coach at Pandurii, I was part of a great team led by Hizo and Mulțescu.”
Motroc’s coaching philosophy is built around developing young talent, as evident from his experiences at Rapid and Pandurii. He emphasized the importance of giving young players a chance to shine: “There were moments when the club’s management suggested I play a certain player, but I was not consulted during the match. I was even forced to bench two players.”

When asked about his favorite team to win the 2026 World Cup, Motroc chose Argentina: “I have a favorite team, and that’s Argentina. I also like England, for some reason. Their style of play is quite appealing to me. The hunger and passion that England brings to the table could be the difference-maker. You can see it in their body language on the pitch.”
