Romanian international Olimpiu Moruțan, 26, has officially signed with Greek Super League side Aris Thessaloniki on a three-year contract, as announced by local media and confirmed by multiple sources. The attacking midfielder, known for his creativity, versatility, and sharp passing, is expected to bolster Aris’s offensive options as the club aims to compete in European competition this season.

Moruțan arrives after a season on loan at Italian Serie B club Pisa—where he contributed two goals and one assist in 11 appearances—previously being under contract with Turkish giants Galatasaray, who retained a percentage of his transfer rights. His recovery from a serious Achilles tendon injury in April 2024 saw him return to action in February, and he is now seen as a key signing for Aris, who finished fifth in Greece last season and will enter the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.

Aris attempted but failed to sign another Romanian, Răzvan Marin, making Moruțan their primary offensive reinforcement for the new campaign. With his experience at top clubs across Europe—including FCSB, Galatasaray, and Ankaragücü—Moruțan brings both pedigree and flair to a side that values technical, mobile playmakers. His market value is currently estimated at €2.4 million.

Aris Thessaloniki, one of Greece’s historic clubs and city rivals to PAOK, is seeking to close the gap on the domestic elite and make an impact in Europe. Moruțan’s arrival signals ambition and a focus on attacking football, with the Romanian expected to play a pivotal role in both league and continental fixtures. His versatility—capable of operating centrally or on the right flank—gives the manager tactical flexibility.

Moruțan’s adaptability and creative spark could prove decisive as Aris looks to build on last season’s progress and challenge for European group-stage football—while reigniting one of Greek football’s most intense derbies against PAOK, now coached by fellow Romanian Răzvan Lucescu.
