The Romanian forward, signed from Internazionale Milano in 2019 has struggled to repeat that impressive start and he has yet to find the back of the net in the Championship, regardless of his 22 apperarances.

After the injury, George was never the same again.

Since December, he has been linked with a move back to Italy with Serie B side Pisa. Puscas’ current Reading contract is set to run until 2024.

“Puscas is our player and I’ve always said he will be important for us and he will score goals,” said the manager earlier this month but Paunovic also admits ‘there is a chance and anything can happen’, so there are again talks of George Puscas leaving the club at the end of January.

The Romanian international is one of Reading’s highest-earning players and any transfer would probably help with the club’s financial issues.
