New beginning for Petrolul Ploiesti. After the club’s huge financial issues from the past seasons, the team finally went on bankruptcy and dissolved. Today, Petrolul Ploiesti has been registered in the 4th Romanian league.

Petrolul is one of the most important teams in the Romanian football with a great history. It was founded 92 years back as FC Juventus Bucharest. The club moved to Ploiesti in 1952 and changed its name several times. Petrolul won the title in Liga 1 (Divizia A) for 4 times and finished second in other 3 championships. They have also won 3 Romanian Cups.
The team relegated from Liga 1 in the recent top division season finishing last, with only 14 points of which 6 were deducted due to licensing issues. Today, Petrolul starts a new life all the way in the 4th tier. At their first reunion, there were approx. 3000 fans on Ilie Oana Stadium from Ploiesti.
