Corvinul, the underdogs from Hunedoara, pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over CFR Cluj in the fifth round of the Superliga, thanks in large part to Antonio Manolache’s exceptional goal. The 26-year-old left-back has been a key player for Corvinul since joining the club in 2023, and his impressive performance on Sunday has further cemented his status as one of the league’s most exciting young talents.
Manolache’s goal, which came in the 43rd minute, was a masterclass in skill and technique. The Romanian international, who has also played for Groningen in the Netherlands, Poli Timișoara, Petrolul, CSM Reșița, and Gloria Bistrița, showcased his exceptional vision and creativity as he collected the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot that left CFR Cluj’s goalkeeper, Octavian Vâlceanu, grasping at air. The ball flew into the top corner, giving the Corvinul fans a reason to celebrate.
Corvinul’s victory was all the more impressive considering the team’s limited resources and experience. Under the guidance of Florin Maxim, the team has been building momentum in recent weeks, and Sunday’s win marked a significant milestone in their season. With 104 appearances and 17 goals to his name, Manolache is the team’s top scorer and a fan favorite. His individual talent and work rate have been instrumental in Corvinul’s success, and he will be looking to continue his fine form in the coming weeks.
The victory also marked a rare defeat for CFR Cluj, who have been one of the top teams in the league in recent seasons. Under the guidance of Marius Șumudică, the team has been building a strong squad, but Sunday’s loss highlighted the challenges they still face. The team’s defense, which was breached by Manolache’s goal, will need to tighten up if they are to compete for the title.
For Corvinul, the win has given them a much-needed boost in confidence, and they will be looking to build on this momentum in their next match. With Manolache leading the charge, the team has a real chance of causing an upset in the league. As the season unfolds, it will be exciting to see how Corvinul and Manolache develop, and whether they can continue to defy expectations and push for a top-four finish.
**Will Corvinul’s momentum continue, or will they struggle to replicate their impressive performance against CFR Cluj?**
