Florin Manea, a seasoned football agent, recently shared insights into the 2010 transfer of Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Caparco to ASA Târgu Mureș, revealing complications involving another agent that left Manea owed €15,000 in commission. Manea recounted on Digi Sport how he facilitated Caparco’s move to Romania with the help of an Italian intermediary, Antonio Stina, who later bypassed Manea on the financial side of the deal.
Manea explained that at the time, Târgu Mureș coach Sabău requested three players, and Manea brought in Caparco along with Issa Ba and Sosa. Although Sosa initially faced rejection and injury setbacks, he eventually proved his worth. Manea praised Caparco’s talent, noting he was a top-class goalkeeper whose performances in Romanian football—especially at clubs like CSMS Iași—often went unnoticed by others.
Caparco himself intervened during the conversation, recalling a near-cancellation of his contract early on, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding his arrival. Manea was candid about his difficulties with the Italian agent Stina, whom he labeled a “scammer” for withholding Manea’s rightful commission. Despite this setback, Manea emphasized the importance of working with trustworthy agents, stating that when both the player and agent are top-level, success follows.
Caparco, a Juventus youth product, played in Italy for Moncalieri, Ivrea, and Grosseto before spending a decade in Romanian football with ASA Târgu Mureș, CSMS Iași, and Concordia Chiajna. After retiring in 2020, he transitioned to coaching goalkeepers at FC Voluntari and Dinamo.
This revelation underscores the often complex and opaque nature of football transfers, especially involving cross-border deals and multiple intermediaries. Manea’s experience highlights how agent disputes can affect financial outcomes even when a transfer succeeds on the sporting front.
