Following FCSB’s recent Romanian Supercup triumph over CFR Cluj, the club’s Executive President Mihai Stoica revealed plans to pursue an additional signing to comply with the U21 player rule for this season. The club is currently considering two young defensive options: Andrei Dorobanțu from Unirea Slobozia and David Maftei from Farul Constanța.
While owner Gigi Becali expressed no urgent desire to add another U21 player, he deferred the decision to Mihai Stoica, stating that if Stoica wants to bring in a new talent, it is his responsibility to manage the transfer process.
Unirea Slobozia’s president Ilie Lemnaru confirmed that Dorobanțu, regarded as the top Romanian player born in 2004, is valued at €1 million and will not be sold for less. Lemnaru also dismissed the idea of a player swap involving Dorobanțu and Laurențiu Vlăsceanu, who has been on loan at Slobozia from FCSB. He emphasized the club’s intention to keep Dorobanțu at least until the next transfer window, underlining his importance to both the player’s development and the team’s future.
This transfer pursuit highlights FCSB’s strategic focus on fulfilling the league’s U21 quota with promising domestic talents, a mandate that affects roster building and competitive planning.
The club’s final decision on the U21 acquisition will likely influence their squad depth and tactical flexibility for the ongoing season.
