FCSB is considering strengthening its squad with two young Romanian talents: midfielder Andrei Dorobanțu from Unirea Slobozia and right-back David Maftei from Farul Constanța, as the club prepares for its UEFA Champions League preliminary rounds.
However, the transfer of Dorobanțu faces a significant financial hurdle. Ilie Lemnaru, president of Unirea Slobozia, confirmed that his club values Dorobanțu at €1 million, a price he deems fair given the player’s status as the best Romanian footballer born in 2004 currently playing in the SuperLiga. Lemnaru emphasized that no formal approach has yet been made by FCSB, and that Dorobanțu’s contract has been extended until 2027 following a June 20 deadline for his potential departure this summer.
Lemnaru also dismissed the possibility of a swap deal involving Laurențiu Vlăsceanu, a player who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Unirea Slobozia, stating Vlăsceanu does not match Dorobanțu’s valuation. The club is not in a hurry to sell, believing both the team and the player benefit from continuing their partnership for now. Lemnaru stressed the importance of nurturing homegrown talent amid ongoing challenges with under-21 player regulations in Romanian football.
This stance underscores Unirea Slobozia’s commitment to developing Dorobanțu before potentially selling him domestically or abroad next year, while FCSB will have to weigh the cost against the strategic value of acquiring a highly rated young midfielder as they aim to bolster their squad for continental competition.
