FC Argeș’s coach, Bogdan Andone, praised his team’s efforts, saying, “This was an immense victory in the context of the game. I believe that in the first 40 minutes, we played a very good game, controlled the pace, and created some excellent attacking opportunities. Of course, after that red card, we had to find a way to defend, to find solutions to recover, and then to counter-attack. We even had a very good chance to score a 2-0 lead.”
Andone emphasized that his team’s win was a demonstration of their character, particularly in the face of adversity. “It was an enormous effort, considering that it’s the second round and the players need to get into rhythm, perhaps not yet ready to play 90 minutes. It was a proof of character from the boys, bowing their heads for them. I’m happy, because I needed this win. The last match we won at Mioveni was against Farul, in the regular season, and the last victory against Craiova, in the play-off of the previous season. It was important for us, for the fans, and for the people in the club to win as soon as possible.”
Andone’s Concerns: The Need for Strengthening
Andone also discussed the team’s current situation, highlighting their limited squad and the need for reinforcements. “We need players, we are limited-limited. Today, if you look at the bench, I think we had 21 players, with 4-5 youngsters. We don’t have enough solutions. We try, the club tries, Dani Coman, the sports director Sorin Boiangiu. We’re on the phone all day, having discussions.”
Andone stressed the importance of bringing in players who can add value, experience, and quality to the team. “We need at least 3 players, 3 more transfers that will come and bring some experience, quality, and value, to be able to raise our level. We’re trying to bring in a player with the profile of Adel Bettaieb. We’ve been rejected by the first two options. It’s not easy to find a player with a profile of 1v1, good finishing, and personality.”
Transfer Saga: Andone’s Openness to Player Departures
Andone also spoke about the team’s transfer situation, expressing his openness to player departures. “As a coach and a person, I would agree, regardless of the player’s position and status in the team. If there’s a convenient offer for the club and the player, I won’t oppose it, because I know how hard and frustrating it is to be refused a good offer.”
Andone also mentioned that the club has a clear policy of not allowing players to leave until the winter break. However, he believes that if a good offer comes in for key players like Tudose or Xulescu, the club would not stand in their way. “Life in football is short. What’s important is that the boys enjoy football, because everyone gives 100% for the team. I think it would be a little unfair on our part to oppose a transfer to a good team or a strong league.”
