FC Argeș has officially presented 25-year-old Montenegrin goalkeeper Igor Nikic, who last played for Mirandes in the Spanish second division.
The transfer was announced by president Dani Coman prior to the team’s 1-0 win over reigning champions Universitatea Craiova. Nikic is set to compete with Cătălin Straton (36) and Cătălin Căbuz (30) for the starting goalkeeper position.
Căbuz was the first-choice goalkeeper in the team’s opening match against FCSB, while Straton was brought into the starting lineup for the game against Petrolul, but was forced to leave the game due to injury, allowing Căbuz to take his place and remain in the starting lineup for the subsequent victories over Csikszereda and Universitatea Craiova, both 1-0.
