Dinamo București faces a logistical challenge for their upcoming Liga I derby against FCSB, as the National Arena in Bucharest remains unavailable during the scheduled period. Initially, Dinamo planned to host the match at the Arcul de Triumf Stadium, which accommodates around 8,000 spectators. However, club officials are now exploring alternatives to allow a larger number of fans to attend this high-profile encounter.
The only viable alternative stadium in the capital is Ghencea Stadium, home ground to FCSB, which seats over 31,000 — nearly four times the capacity of Arcul de Triumf. Dinamo has proposed a swap of the two regular-season derby fixtures to FCSB, suggesting that FCSB host the first game at Ghencea, while Dinamo would host the return leg at the National Arena once it becomes available again.
Reports indicate that FCSB initially declined this proposal, although negotiations between the clubs continue. Should no agreement be reached, Dinamo may either rent Arcul de Triumf again or opt for Ghencea Stadium despite it being FCSB’s home ground.
For FCSB, playing at Ghencea comes with significant costs. Owner Gigi Becali has learned that renting the stadium, including operating expenses, will cost at least €60,000 per match, with additional ancillary fees expected. FCSB will continue to use Ghencea as their home venue until the National Arena reopens, starting with the new season kickoff.
This venue uncertainty underscores the complexities Romanian clubs face in managing derby logistics and fan attendance, with potential implications for matchday atmosphere and revenues. The resolution will be crucial for both teams as they vie for Superliga supremacy and city bragging rights.
