Denis Alibec suffered a knee injury just four minutes into FCSB’s Supercup clash against CFR Cluj after a sprint challenge with Leo Bolgado, forcing an early substitution with Vlad Chiricheș taking his place. The striker, who recently rejoined FCSB this summer, initially tried to continue but eventually had to leave the pitch due to persistent pain in his right knee.
On Monday morning, Alibec underwent an MRI scan to assess the severity of his injury, but the results were inconclusive. FCSB plans to seek additional medical opinions to better interpret the scan findings. Meanwhile, Alibec has been withdrawn from all training activities and will observe a mandatory rest period of 10 days, after which his condition will be re-evaluated with a follow-up MRI.
As it stands, Alibec will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks, a period during which FCSB faces crucial fixtures, including their first preliminary round Champions League matches against Inter D’Escaldes, Liga I encounters with Hermannstadt and Petrolul, as well as the second qualifying round of the Champions League versus either TNS or Shkendija.
If the follow-up examination reveals a collateral ligament injury, as initially suspected, Alibec may miss the entire month of August, which is set to be the busiest for FCSB this season. This would be a significant blow to the Romanian champions, given Alibec’s role in their attacking setup.
The uncertainty around Alibec’s fitness puts added pressure on FCSB’s squad depth and tactical options as they navigate a demanding early-season schedule.
