From Sweden to Poland – Assad Al Hamlawi’s Journey Before Craiova
Universitatea Craiova has successfully transferred Assad Al Hamlawi from Polish club Slask Wroclaw, which recently relegated to the second division. Al Hamlawi, a 24-year-old Palestinian forward, signed a contract until 2028. He previously played for several Swedish clubs, including Sodra, Varbergs, Angelholms, and Helsingborgs, before joining Slask Wroclaw in January 2024. During his half-season stint in Poland, Al Hamlawi scored seven goals in 16 games, following a standout performance at IK Oddevold in Sweden, where he netted 14 times in 28 matches.
Universitatea Craiova, finishing third in the previous season, will compete in the Conference League qualifiers. The transfer marks a significant addition to the team’s attacking lineup, especially with the upcoming debut against UTA Arad on July 12.
This signing could be pivotal for Universitatea Craiova’s ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.
