Andrea Padula to UTA Arad
Andrea Padula, the 29-year-old left-back holding dual Italian and Romanian citizenship, has officially signed with UTA Arad, a notable club in Romania’s SuperLiga. This move follows earlier media reports in June when Padula acknowledged feeling honored by interest from FCSB, one of Romania’s most prestigious clubs. He stated, “It is normal that when you read that FCSB is interested in you, it is a great honor. FCSB is a big team in Romania and Europe. You are happy when the best team in Romania shows interest”.

Despite this expressed admiration for FCSB, Padula ultimately chose to continue his career at UTA Arad, signing a new contract in early July 2025. Prior to this, Padula spent two seasons with FC U Craiova, where he was a key player and even served as team captain in the most recent campaign, tallying 54 appearances with 2 goals and 2 assists in Romania’s leagues between 2023 and 2025. His leadership and consistent performance helped Craiova finish strongly in Liga 2’s play-out group.
Padula’s background includes a solid international experience, having played in Switzerland for several clubs including Basel—where he appeared in 20 matches—and others such as Lugano, Chiasso, Wil, and Bellinzona, as well as a stint with Monza in Italy. His market value is estimated at around €250,000 according to transfermarkt.
This signing bolsters UTA Arad’s defensive options with an experienced, versatile left-back who brings both leadership qualities and international pedigree. For Padula, the move represents a fresh start in Romania’s top flight, after nearly joining the country’s most decorated club.
The acquisition of Padula signals UTA Arad’s ambitions to strengthen their squad with proven domestic and international experience, potentially impacting their competitiveness in the upcoming SuperLiga season.
