Universitatea Craiova has signed Palestinian forward Assad Al-Hamlawi from Śląsk Wrocław on a permanent transfer. The 24-year-old, who has dual Palestinian and Swedish citizenship, joins the Romanian club after a notable season with Wrocław, scoring seven goals in 16 matches. Al-Hamlawi’s transfer is part of Craiova’s ninth signing this summer, following players like Tudor Băluță, who also joined from Śląsk Wrocław.
In a recent interview, Mihai Rotaru mentioned that the transfer process involves Mario Felgueiras, the club’s sporting director, and possibly indicates a lack of coordination between key figures. Rotaru intervened in negotiations that had stalled, helping to finalize two transfers quickly.
Universitatea Craiova finished third in the previous season and will compete in the Conference League qualifiers. This signing bolsters their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Insight: Al-Hamlawi’s arrival could significantly enhance Craiova’s attacking prowess in the upcoming season.
