Corvinul Hunedoara kicked off their preseason preparations with a 2-1 victory against CSC Dumbrăvița at home on Saturday before departing for a training camp in Austria on Sunday morning.
The team will be based in the alpine resort of Mönichkirchen until July 16, where they will face three friendly matches against regional opponents: Sportvereinigung Gloggnitz (Austrian third division), ND Ilirija 1911 (Slovenian second division), and Tiszakécskei LC (recently promoted to Hungary’s second league).
Coach Florin Maxim took 21 players on the trip, including two young loanees from UTA Arad who had just returned from their own training stint in Slovenia. One notable returnee is 18-year-old forward Lucas Câmpan, who rejoined Corvinul after a brief one-month spell at UTA that saw him feature in four friendlies but without scoring. Câmpan previously played for Corvinul in the last season and a half, accumulating 30 official appearances across Liga II, European qualifiers, and the Romanian Supercup. Despite his youth, his agent recently touted him as a potential future striker for the Romanian national team, though his debut in the top flight remains pending.
Another young talent, 19-year-old central defender Darius Iurasciuc, who has two appearances in Romania’s SuperLiga with UTA, joined the group. Iurasciuc spent the 2024–2025 season on loan at Progresul Pecica in the third division, a club known for developing players who progress to higher levels.
The full roster for the Austrian camp includes goalkeepers Fabio Blaga, Andrei Mutuligă, and Rareș Roșculeț; defenders Pedro Albino, Ricardo Pădurariu, Viorel Lică, Antoniu Manolache, Florin Ilie, Mihai Velisar, and Darius Iurasciuc; midfielders Antonio Bradu, Ion Cărăruș, Alexandru Neacșa, Nicolae Pîrvulescu, Mario Bratu, Sergio Ribeiro, Darius Grigore, and Denis Zanc; forwards Alexandru Buziuc, Filip Ilie, and Lucas Câmpan.
This early preseason activity, including the camp and friendlies against regional sides, aims to build fitness, integrate new and returning players, and fine-tune tactics ahead of the upcoming Liga II campaign. Corvinul’s focus on youth development and reintegrating promising talents like Câmpan and Iurasciuc could be pivotal in their quest to compete strongly in the second tier.
